Encode UTF-8 text as standard Base64 or decode Base64 back to readable text.
URL Encoder/Decoder
Percent-encode a URL component or decode it back to text, without visiting any address.
How to use it
- Choose encode for text or decode for a percent-encoded component.
- Paste up to 256 KiB of UTF-8 text. Use a single query value or path component.
- Transform and copy or download. The displayed text is never opened as a link.
Examples
An accented query value
- Input
- caffè & tea
- Result
- caff%C3%A8%20%26%20tea. Decoding restores the spaces, accent and ampersand.
Component encoding rules
Encoding follows encodeURIComponent: spaces become %20 and reserved separators such as &, / and = are escaped. It is intended for one component, not preserving the structure of a complete URL.
Decoding follows decodeURIComponent and requires complete, valid UTF-8 percent sequences. A literal + remains +; this is not application/x-www-form-urlencoded parsing.
URLs can contain private data
A component can include passwords, identifiers or private query values. Input and output stay in memory; the tool makes no request to any typed address.
Encoding is reversible and does not anonymize or encrypt a value. Invalid escapes, incomplete UTF-8 and lone Unicode surrogates are rejected instead of silently repaired.
Questions, answered.
Why is + not decoded as a space?
A plus is literal under decodeURIComponent. Form-urlencoded data uses a different convention.
Should I paste a whole URL?
Use one component. Encoding a whole URL also escapes its separators, making it a value rather than a navigable URL.
Does decoding visit the website?
No. The tool only transforms text and never fetches or opens the result.
